Beta Pi:
IS BETA PI BLOG WITHOUT ANY REDEEMING SOCIAL OR ARTISTIC MERIT?:
YEA . . . . or
Beta Pi Blog exists for one reason: to bring ATO, Beta Pi Chapter Brothers and ATO Gal-Pals together. The blog does not take itself very seriously - it is meant for fun, and therefore is non-political. It includes
pictures, links, Archives of previous issues, and other time-wasters. To get there, go to web address: http://beta-pi-blog.blogspot.com .
GO WEST! YOUNG CRAFTON!: Well, in today’s e-mail comes a very nice note from Dara Howe, widow of
Illustrious Heavenly Tick-a-lor David Howe. (Some of you may not know it, but after David died a few years ago, Dara told me she wanted to remain on the Blog e-mail list, in true Tick style).
Here is the note from Dara:
Larry, I notice that you don't have West and Ladonna Crafton on your list. I do have e-mail and phone/address for them, although he NEVER does e-mail and she reads it sporadically. Not a good way to communicate with them. Here's their house phone ... and they have no answering machine! They are practically Luddites!

If they want to attend this (if he's not on call that weekend) I will consider coming as well. West and David were best friends.
Dara
The Blog has had Doctor West on radar for some time - but when I last spoke to West (at David’s funeral), he said he did not have e-mail, and inferred that he did not like e-mail, or anything computer/internet-related.
So, receiving his e-mail address from Dara is something of a rare find. No doubt, West will feel his privacy has been invaded. West, old friend, life is too short for that. Tick-a-lors are known thick-skins, one and all, yourself included.
And, I pondered all of this deeply, while reading my e-mails on my Blackberry, atop Ruby, who is Ann’s horse.
It was like an epiphany . . . facing to the west, watching the lonesome sunset over the West Tennessee treetops . . .,
it came to me, like a bolt of lightning!
GO WEST, YOUNG CRAFTON! West simply needs equestrian therapy, and a little shock treatment from Beta Pi Blog. So, without further TOO-DO,
BETA PI BLOG WELCOMES DR. WEST CRAFTON george_crafton@comcast.net .
Thanks to Dara Howe for linking us up to the Mighty Westward One!
And Dara, we miss David very much. It is awesome of you to continue to connect with us.

ATO LAST CHANCE POLL RESULTS - REUNION / HOMECOMING UPDATE: As you know, I am a believer in polling. There is soul-satisfaction that comes from knowing, statistically, how a group of humanoids is leaning. FROM DARA HOWE, September 10, 2010:
"Thanks, Larry. That was great. I'm going to call West and LD. I would love to go just to be a fly on the wall listening to the tales of Ticklor lore of yore!
Stay tuned!
dara"
FROM ART LANDRY, September 11, 2010:
"Doze-O:
As you have reported, I will be there, with no impedimenta. IE, just me.AWL"
FROM MRS. LEE HAAL, September 11, 2010:
"Unfortunately...Lee can't make it."
TO MRS. LEE:
2011 is Lee's year. Your mission is to book it on Lee's calendar now - the third weekend in October (or second) will be Homecoming/Reunion 2011.
Tell Mr. Work-a-holic I said no excuses, he now has an an entire year advance notice to book this. And tell him we love him and miss him (and want to watch Mrs. Lee jump in the pool -HAA! - you really painted a picture with your fun comment, reminds me of Lee)
LEE, LISTEN UP - be there!
Love,
Bozo Bozino
ADDITIONAL - FROM MRS. LEE HALL, September 12, 2010:
"Larry-
Sorry for the short previous response, I am working on our old VAIO and hit send a little too quickly(....stupid touch pads...) Lee and I are currently in Florida visiting with his family. They are moving his Dad from the hospital today and into hospice for his final days, so it has been a bit of a rough weekend. His Dad has been fighting a long battle with slow progressing dementia, which he pretty much lost last April, so this is a blessing in some ways.
Lee's sister gave me some of Lee's old stuff out of the garage, including his Vandy yearbook from 1973. I will scan the ATO pages for your amusement when I get home. I am sure you will be able to torture somebody with them. I told Lee he looked extremely dorky in his freshman pic, so obviously, ATO was able to improve him immensely. He did show me several of his ATO partners in crime...but was unable to locate you in the photo section, and he could not remember how far ahead of him you were.
See you in 2011.
Mrs. Lee
TO MRS. LEE & LEE: Sorry to hear about Lee's Dad. We'll keep you all in our prayers. I am Class of 75, so I already have the 73 yearbook, and tell Lee he should look at it, in the Sophomore section, where my mug shot is. Looking forward to seeing you both in 2011 - no need to bring a bathing suit! HAA!
Larry
FROM MARK McGANN, September 12, 2010:
"Larry,
Kindly save me a place at the 4th Annual ATO Dinner. Thanks.
M"
FROM DENNIS PRICE, September 12, 2010:
"Larry, I will not be able to attend (and neither will my entire frickin' family), which actually grew by three new ones three weeks ago -- daughter, Carmel, had her first child, girl named Mary Quinlan, and son, Matt's, wife had identical twin boys, named George Walker and Thomas Cooper. All doing well. D.Price"
TO D. PRICE: Wow, congratulations Dennis! What a blessing. Ann & I are dreaming about grandchildren someday. I can't think of a more deserving guy than you for all of that joy. Be well my friend.
Larry
FROM JOHN STEIN, September 13, 2010:
"Nay."
FROM GENE YOUNG, September 13, 2010:
"I plan on being there. Gene Young"
FROM FRANK BILLER, September 13, 2010:
"Many celebrities are known by one name- Cher, Sting, Pele, et.al.
Only one is known simply by a letter-
M
for Marlon. The one, the only.
"It's Marlon's world. We only live in it."
MORE FROM FRANK BILLER, September 13, 2010:
"...always the Master of the understatement.
It's refreshing to my jaded mind, corroded with Bombast and Hyperbole as it is.
Kudos to you Leapin'. It will be my great pleasure to see you again my friend.
Buck"
SMOOT BACKS OUT, September 23, 2010:
"Larry,
Sorry about not getting with you that Friday morning in Nashville; I got cornered by some guys from the conference at Vandy who insisted that we continue the discussion on future healthcare design and construction work the next day. Seeing how these folks had paid to sponsor the event, thought I ought to be hospitable.
Just looked at the dates for the reunion and saw it was the 21st thru 23rd. To be honest, I was really looking forward to coming back down to Nashville and mingling with the returning Tics, seeing how last year’s gathering was absolutely great. You should assure those who might be on the fence, it is definitely worth the effort to come back and hang out with their brothers and their fabulous “winches”, even if
the yellow car is gone, this is a must do event.
Unfortunately, I'll be flying back from the wrong coat that Saturday morning, so I will not be attending this year. So I’m counting on Marlon, Stoner, and Chipper to represent the DC area with dignity – no passing out until at least 2 in the afternoon Gents. Seeing how I covered a multitude of pledge classes during my sorted career at VU, I’ll know guys from the next 5 years’ worth of reunion classes; and I will be in attendance in 2011 – if I’m above ground.
Tell “the boys” hello and sorry I couldn’t be there, and have a swig on me.
Smoot"
TO BOB: We'll miss you, Smooty!
FROM BUCK BILLER, September 24, 2010:
"DC cannot represent without the Senior Senator from the Great State of Euphoria in attendance.
Divert your jet to Nash Vegas. Your constituency demands your attendance!
Buck Biller
Senior Senator from the great State of Inebriation"
