horses (See Archives, Beta Pi Blog, Vol.2010, No.06, March, 2010).





So we recently had our

Stallion Charlie gelded, and thought that was the end of it.

As it turns out, before we had him cut, Charlie had been very busy doing what studs do best, to

our Mare, Ruby.

A few months ago

Ruby was noticeably bigger, and showed all the signs of being pregnant. So we got help from a neighbor,to check on her each day (as we usually go on weekends).

Thursday we got the call.

So figuratively, I am handing out cigars -

Ann and I have named her

Bessie,

after a horse Ann had when she was a young girl.

Bessie is so beautiful!

Ruby let me touch her (she won’t let Charlie get near, apparently the memory of his gargantuan member is still burned into her innermost memory).

Her fur is the softest thing (well, with one exception) I have ever touched.

NEW ATO GAL-PAL DISCOVERED! I was in Starbucks at Greenhills, having an iced latte, when I recognized this gal, so being me, I said . . .

I know you from somewhere!

 She looked at me quizzically, so I said . . .

Did you go to Vanderbilt?

Yes

, she said.

What Class did you graduate?

Class of 75!

BINGO!!!   So, having established a connection, I introduced myself.

Friday Night - Class Party. Saturday Afternoon - Tailgate & Homecoming Game. Saturday Evening - the 4th Annual ATO Dinner, 7:30 p.m., at Cabana. After that, Campus-Party-City.

We have an August gathering in Washington DC when Ed O, and others arrive and our 1978-79 graduating classes connect for frisbee golf, meals, story telling,,, and the annual picture display provided by Chip H and I. Oct 2-3 is out due to Vandy playing UCONN where my oldest in Grad School ( on a full-ride I might add) and I'll be joining her for a football game in Yankee land. Dick
