Beta Pi Blog, Vol.2010, No.11 - Whoa! Bessie!

Beta Pi

IS BETA PI BLOG WITHOUT ANY REDEEMING SOCIAL OR ARTISTIC MERIT?:

YEA . . . . or

 NAY?

Beta Pi Blog exists for one reason: to bring ATO, Beta Pi Chapter Brothers together. The blog does not take itself very seriously - it is meant for

fun, and therefore is non-political.

It includes pictures, links,

Archives of previous issues, and other time-wasters. To get there, go to web address: http://beta-pi-blog.blogspot.com/  .

WHOA, BESSIE!: If you have followed this blog,

you know I have

horses (See Archives, Beta Pi Blog, Vol.2010, No.06, March, 2010).

So we recently had our

Stallion Charlie gelded, and thought that was the end of it.

As it turns out, before we had him cut, Charlie had been very busy doing what studs do best, to

our Mare, Ruby.

A few months ago

Ruby was noticeably bigger, and showed all the signs of being pregnant. So we got help from a neighbor,to check on her each day (as we usually go on weekends).

Thursday we got the call.

So figuratively, I am handing out cigars -

Ann and I have named her

Bessie,

after a horse Ann had when she was a young girl.

Bessie is so beautiful!

Ruby let me touch her (she won’t let Charlie get near, apparently the memory of his gargantuan member is still burned into her innermost memory).

Her fur is the softest thing (well, with one exception) I have ever touched.

NEW ATO GAL-PAL DISCOVERED! I was in Starbucks at Greenhills, having an iced latte, when I recognized this gal, so being me, I said . . .

I know you from somewhere!
She looked at me quizzically, so I said . . .

Did you go to Vanderbilt?
Yes
, she said.

What Class did you graduate?
Class of 75!
BINGO!!!   So, having established a connection, I introduced myself.

Without further adieu

BETA PI BLOG WELCOMES ATO GAL-PAL

MARILEE JACOBS mljacobs25@hotmail.com .

Marilee is a Gamma Phi Beta, and was a frequenter of ATO parties, and parties of ATO allies Sigma Chi. Our guys would have been at those Sigma Chi Parties actively trying to snake the gals away from the Sigma Chi House, so I know you guys will remember the fiery red-head Marilee.

Anyway, Marilee - great to have you onboard!

Beta Pi Blog, Vol.2010, No,10 - Strong Arm Tactics

Beta Pi:
IS BETA PI BLOG WITHOUT ANY REDEEMING SOCIAL OR ARTISTIC MERIT?:

YEA . . . . or

NAY?

Beta Pi Blog exists for one reason: to bring ATO, Beta Pi Chapter Brothers together. The blog does not take itself very seriously - it is meant for fun, and therefore is non-political. It includes

pictures, links, Archives of previous issues, and other time-wasters. To get there, go to web address: http://beta-pi-blog.blogspot.com .

STRONG ARM TACTICS: This story caught my attention.

This actual news story was on the internet:

Forensic testing of more than 80 Roman-era skeletons unearthed in York, England, indicates that the athletic young men with well-developed right arms had been gladiators. Some of the bodies had been decapitated and had received hammer blows to the head. One of the bones also showed evidence of a bite from a large carnivore, such as a lion, tiger, or bear. “We don’t have any other potential gladiator cemeteries with this level of preservation anywhere else in the world,” said a noted archeologist.

So, MARLON, you see where this is going, right? You’ve got 80 ancient gladiators, all with super strong right arms. Evidence of hammer blows to the head, one with carnivore bite wounds. Gladiators, but no explanation offered for all of them having super strong right arms. An archeological mystery?

Not for Beta Pi Blog. One need simply consult the annals. Tick-a-lor history is replete with evidence of young men with well-developed right arms. No mystery. Excessive, (some might say compulsive) repetitive motion with the right arm (and hand) - let’s see. For a fact, there is one Tick-a-lor who was literally named for this phenomenon: none-other-than

The Mighty . . . ROD . . . YANKER!

That is not some fake name, like Pete N. Espanz,

Willie Stroker,

or Matt Starbader, Colonel Lingus, or even Phil A. Cheerio.

No Sir, Rodney Yanker, Class of 1980 is a real person, and ATO is honored to have him!

And, there were several guys before Rod’s time (Class of 80), most notably the Shwimbags,

Lee Hall,

Marlon,

M-Link, and of course

The Mighty

Lurch,

whose right-arm strength was matched by none. HAAA! Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

REUNION / HOMECOMING UPDATE: For those of you who have not been to Reunion. It’s simple.

Friday Night - Class Party. Saturday Afternoon - Tailgate & Homecoming Game. Saturday Evening - the 4th Annual ATO Dinner, 7:30 p.m., at Cabana. After that, Roam-Campus-Parties-till-you-drop.

Cabana was such a big hit

last year (good food, good drink, Tales accommodated) - we have already booked Cabana as the Official ATO Dinner Venue.

One answer: will you commit to this program? This is not a drill, soldier . . .

Consider that J.D. - still to this day - lives with his Mother, and refuses to get a computer or e-mail, or otherwise join the 21st Century. Commitment can be a scary thing, for a guy with chronic Peter Pan Syndrome.

It is scary, I know, and crying towels are available in the lobby - it has been 35 years.

Here are the brave souls who have committed, thus far . . .
