Beta Pi Blog, Vol.2020, No.01 – Tison Keel

Beta Pi:

IS  BETA PI BLOG without any redeeming social or artistic merit?:

YEA .   .   .   . or

NAY?

Beta Pi Blog’s purpose: to bring ATO, Beta Pi Chapter Brothers and ATO Gal-Pals together.  The blog is not to be taken seriously - it is meant for fun.

The Beta Pi Blog is non-political.  It includes
pictures, links, Archives of previous issues, and other time-wasters.

TISON KEEL STEPS UP!

Another year, and looking forward to this Fall.  A few years ago, I started asking some guys to help out, in rallying our guys to attend Reunion/Homecoming.  That effort has had some success, and I appreciate the help.

Two years ago, CLAUDE CODY did an outstanding job as Point Man for Class of 73, the results were in the great turnout.

Claude, thank you again for your service to our brotherhood.

This year, our Class of 75 will be having our 45th Reunion, and we are very fortunate that TISON KEEL has agreed to be Point Man for Class of 75!  Tison, thank you for stepping up!

For some reason, Vanderbilt is switching things up again, this year Reunion/Homecoming Weekend will be November 6 – 7.  Yeah….Homecoming in November, what were they thinking?

Maybe next they will combine it with Thanksgiving….we can munch on “turkey leg” – in the words of the great JOEL KADARAUCH – while we freeze our butts off watching the Homecoming Game.  I am already feeling ‘thankful”.

Anyway, I always look forward to seeing our guys, and hope you will attend.

THE ABER ARCHIVES, PART 2

So, out of the blue, which is Aber’s style, Aber sends me YET ANOTHER batch of outstanding pictures from . . . TICK-A-LOR DAYS-O-YORE.

Aber writes:
“For the love of a good time, our brothers were always ready to gather for a laugh, a drink and to enjoy one another (with our lady tics too).”

So true.  Short, sweet, no names. I will take a stab at the faces I recognize, and if you recognize some please let me know.

Matt Hart, and mystery date. (check out the adoring look on her face.  Which leads to the question:  what is there to adore?)

Mark “The Rat” Darling, with the lovely Linda Burns (Bayles).  In the background, Mark “Cheeks” Reed and Tom “Loveman” Lovinggood.

Mark “Cheeks” Reed, and in the background (I am guessing) Tim Stryker is wolfing down a drink.  Tim was one-wild-mutha!

Rob Anderson is seated, and behind him is that all-time-great ATO Gal Becky Bruning.  In the background are Tick-a-lor Stars Travis “T” Parr & Rena “The Steak” Dabne.  No idea who the girl with balloons is.

Aber, thank you for your outstanding photo-journalistic contribution.

“We who are about to die Salute You!”

FROM FRANK BILLER:
"Thanks to Larry for a short but fun Blog in the doldrums of winter. I went through all the names on the address line tonight and remembered each and every one of you. I smiled as I remembered each nickname. My fav is Randy Weber aka Droopy. Thank you all for being my friends!
As regards Abers new “forgotten Tic Pics”:
There is a bearded lad in the foreground of pic 2 and 3 who’s name I believe is Jeff Bachman. Perhaps someone can verify my ID. Jeff was one of many tragic souls who could have been Tic but pledged a lesser house. In this case I believe Jeff was Sigma Chi. He was from Atlanta and friends with our old Mims Hall friend Marion Francis “Bubba” Placido aka “Bubba Placenta”.
As regards pic 4 I must admit that I have always been partial to ladies “with the balloons”.

Tyson, I am at your service in promotion of the 45th reunion of the Class of 1975. I encourage our classmates to join us. The next reunion we will be Quings. They do not have class parties for Quings, just luncheons as it seems Quings are too f**king old to stay up until 8:00 PM and/or cocktail. In the immortal words of Matt Hart- “Grim”.

FROM ABER:
"Frankie Bucko, you’re amazing!

Jeff Bachman is correct - alcohol has not diminished your memory. A group of us football jocks get together every couple of months in Atlanta for beers and he’s there with Cheeeeeeeeecks. Many stories!"

FROM RANDY WEBER:
"...and Frank I don’t even remember how the name got started. It is amazing how we came up with nicknames for almost everyone. I also can’t thank Larry enough for starting and keeping this blog going. It does bring back a lot of great memories.

FROM TISON KEEL:
"The reunion date change has created a little friction at home, but I am still planning to attend. Good friends we made when living in Seoul had invited us to their daughter's wedding that weekend, on Cape Cod, which we accepted. My wife wasn't going to attend VU anyway, and she would prefer I join her at the wedding. Tough choice, but because I have already started trying to rope in Earl and Chester, I am committed to reunion. I hope this won't end badly...
My other target is Harpo. Have you had any contact with him? I think he has resisted all other Tic efforts, though he did attend the swimbag reunion last year, the miscreant!
Cheers!
