TURKEY LEG!

This Thanksgiving, I remember fondly my guitar buddy JOEL KADARAUCH . . . (guitar buddy because Joel was/is really good on guitar and I used to hang out with him to see what I could learn.  Joel tolerated me, and even introduced me to his pro-musician pal “Gib-Stone” who also tolerated me and actually gave me a few really nice “lessons”).  Anyway, back to the story.  So Joel – who used to be fond of distinctly enunciating words aloud, just for the sheer JOY of hearing them – would run around as we approached Thanksgiving saying “Turkey Leg” – which may have also been a euphemism for shapely female leg, or something.  Anyway, that eventually morphed into “Lurkey Teg”.

So, Happy Thanksgiving to my old pal in Alaska,

R.I.P. MRS. ROTIER

Evelyn Rotier, matriarch of Rotier’s, dies at 94. Claude Cody and Buck Biller sent me notification of Mrs. Rotier’s passing.  She was our mother-away-from-home.  She always took interest in us and had a kind word.  She treated us like family.  She was the best of what many call “southern hospitality.”

NEWS FROM BEN PEDIGO

Ben sent an e-mail with an update on his music:

My son and I recently finished up our weekend performances and had this video made at one of our shows.  We sent this John Hartford tune out to Shane Leftridge who is a good banjo and guitar picker.  Shane's family is in the music business- his brother is a performer in the St. Louis region and his dad, Bob, has been a fixture at Branson for 30 plus years.  Bob is a wonderful singer and comedian.  He is also an excellent song writer and has written some great songs for his good friend, Lester Flatt.  We hope you all enjoy Long Hot Summer Days-  Ben Pedigo
